Your Pet's Rescue Story
TGPR Alum Ruthie and her sister were dumped at a shelter along with their goats after somebody bought the property that they were on. Ruthie and her sister had never been socialized, so they were labeled as not friendly at the shelter. Her sister died of a preventable disease in the shelter because they had never been vaccinated. Ruthie was feeling photogenic here in a shot without her goats, but she is a full-time guardian. She is slowly learning to trust humans after a year and is always happy to see me. She represents the plight of so many guardian dogs in Texas. There is a myth that they must be left feral in order to do their job. Not only is it not true, they do better work when bonded to a human partner. They will happily work for belly rubs!
