Your Pet's Rescue StoryI can't believe she's eight.
I fostered BB when I lost my heart dog, so bereft I figured it didn't matter. Juliette was grieving, and I got BB to help her, but I thought I couldn't love somebody like I'd loved Gigi; any sweet puppy would do.
One night, BB tried to get my attention, real attention- I was so heartbroken I hadn't really SEEN her, and she knew that. She Pyr pawed me a couple of times and, when that didn't work, she laid her head on my chest and just stared at me. Petting the heart on her head and staring back, something clicked. I loved her. Her crazy antics, her diva attitude (I will not be ignored!), her fierce independence, her unwillingness to let me suffer. Her loving me.
Unbelievably, loving again is possible, even the soul-splitting, heart-wrenching, black hole kind, you just have to let yourself.
