The Arc Lancaster Lebanon empowers people with disabilities and families to make informed choices. The individual or family has someone to talk to who understands their life and struggles and has the information and expertise to help them move forward, reducing isolation and increasing options for the person with the disability. We do not charge families for our services.
We work to counter the stigma that people with disabilities encounter and overcome the barriers to inclusion and achievement.
ADVOCACY: coming alongside people with disabilities and their parents/caregivers, offering one-on-one support for both children in special education and adults. Making life a bit more manageable; helping to navigate the complex rules and regulations; and making sure their concerns are heard. We endeavor to make our Advocacy program a "one stop service" so someone does not need to call around trying to find the answers to their questions.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION: on topics of interest to people with disabilities and their support network.
PEER GROUPS: giving adults with disabilities and their families time to connect for learning and discussion, for fun, and fellowship.
SIBLING GROUP: For kids ages 8 to 12 who have a sibling with a disability where they can share games and activities and meet others who have a brother/sister with a disability.
DISABILITY ACCEPTANCE TRAINING: Presentations for grades K to 6 to help participants achieve a greater understanding and acceptance of their peers with disabilities, showing all people have value.
ARC ANGEL: Connecting community givers with people with disabilities who need Christmas presents.
