Animal Breed"Tortical" - one part tortoiseshell cat and one part calico cat
Adopted or Rescued?Yes
Pet personality / Story of adoption / Why is your pet special? We adopted TJ from a shelter nursery when he was just three months old. TJ (short for Thomas Jefferson) is a patient, calm, and very smart cat. He has to be to survive and share a house successfully with three high energy and rambunctious Jack Russell Terriers.
TJ is part tortoiseshell cat and part calico sometimes referred to as a “tortical." Most calicoes are known to be female, but we got one of the rare male ones in TJ. Most calicoes share a personality trait of tortoiseshell cats commonly described as "tortitude." They can be sassy, spunky, and very independent. Our TJ is like that when the dogs are around, but most the time he is sweet, and a loyal member of our family.
