Pet personality / Story of adoption / Why is your pet special? We rescued Tigger 18 years ago and he was a total house cat rarely venturing outside beyond our back porch and deck. Mind you in our neighborhood there are a lot of big dogs and even the small ones bark loud and like to confront you. Tigger never showed any interest in warming up to them or needing to stand his ground. He was comfortable being a proverbial shy cat, introverted and independent. And you might say a bit of a scaredy cat who rarely purred, rarely meowed, and did not sit on your lap and seek any affection at all.
When he wanted to eat, he was quite proper. He just found you wherever you might be sitting around meal times, sat down, proper posture, very still like a statue, and stared at you until he was fed. No fuss, no drama, just an earnest stare. He was not a fun and games cat and yet he was not aloof either. He just had close boundaries and he didn't like to extend beyond his comfort zone. In his early years we got him toys and tried to play cat games with him, we tried everything, but he looked at you in a way that said, "are you kidding me?"
After 18 lovely years, he passed away in early 2018. We will never forget him. He was loyal, consistent, and low maintenance, a good companion cat, a dependable friend.
