Pet personality / Story of adoption / Why is your pet special?Clarice was named after a character in the wonderful and timeless Christmas animated classic, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." In the holiday movie Clarice is Rudolphs girlfriend and we still watch that show after five decades, over and over again "each & every year" as we prepare for Christmas eve with family, it's a family tradition.
Clarice is a typical tabby in many ways but is especially social, warm and a love bug. She likes siting with someone pretty much always. If one of us is reading or watching a movie in a living room or study chair (or couch), Clarice is right there on someones lap or huddled up keeping warm next to them.
We rescued her during the winter and had no idea how she got out on the side of the road alone in the cold and frigid storm, but there she was shivering and all alone. We saved her but in many ways over the years, we could also say she saved us. This is a photo of her when she was still a kitten, one of our favorites. Clarice is hugging her fist Christmas present, a toy mouse filled with catnip. And that special holiday year, Clarice was our special gift from Santa Claus.

Her amazing dog, cat, and horse photography has been a part of every McCook Humane Society calendar starting with the first shelter calendar in 2012-13. We offer our sincere thanks to her for sharing stories of shelter adoption and rescue, and submitting adorable photo images for our cat pack and shelter projects.
