The 2017 online calendar photo contest is a fundraiser tradition established by The Cat Pack back in 2012. The purpose of the calendar is to support the animal shelter with a creative fundraiser while showcasing the cats and dogs of McCook and the surrounding area. To complete this project Cat Pack volunteers have to: plan, request, promote, collect, organize, arrange, display, negotiate, secure sponsors, print, ship, store, share, and sell calendars throughout local southwestern Nebraska, Red Willow County, and the Tri-State area.
The 2017 calendar contest will be the "Fifth Annual" fundraising calendar for the shelter. As before, the calendar will showcase between 80–120 cat and dog photos which will be organized in a seasonal collage theme. Sponsor logos will also be highlighted and recognized each month for businesses or families who contribute to make printing of the calendars possible. These calendars are a great gift item for the animal lover in your life.
We need your help by sending in your best photos! The Cat Pack is asking for the community's involvement to send in a lot of new amazing images which showcase adorable furry loved ones to grace the monthly pages of our new 2017 calendar.
Cat and dog photos can be viewed online at the contest website and voting will be open until Friday, July, 1
st, 2016. Each vote costs $1 ($5.00 minimum = five votes). And the one dog photo and the one cat photo receiving the most votes will be crowned, "Cover Critters," on the new 2017 Cats & Dogs of McCook cover.
Once the calendars are available, they cost $5.00 and 100% of each sale is a donation to the McCook animal shelter. All proceeds from the contest voting go directly to the McCook Humane Society animal shelter as a donation.
ABOUT US – THE CAT PACK: Friends of the McCook Humane Society
We are youth volunteers and adult family members who team up to support our local McCook Humane Society with community awareness about the joy of adopting shelter animals.
Since 2009, Cat Pack projects (both large and small) have raised over $12,500 serving the McCook Humane Society to help enhance their ability to care for lost and abandon cats and dogs.
Cat Pack volunteering examples include:
- FUND-RAISING: Examples: calendars, card decks, refrigerator magnets, original art work, signs, slightly used animal themed toys and/or stuffed animals, and other pet merchandise.
- EVENT SUPPORT & SPECIAL PROJECTS: Examples: lemonade stands, bake sales, magnet sales, annual shelter events (i.e. Dog Days in the Park), finding lost pets, walking dogs, making signage and banners, booth support, sales, and promotions, art and crafts, and animal care education.
- ANIMAL WELFARE PR & PROMOTIONS: Examples: writing and editing newspaper articles, comic strips, bulletin board flyers, radio interviews, video promos, contests, website design and development.
