Meet Rothko

Rothko is a smooth-coated dachshund with a serious job, a fearless personality, and absolutely no respect for flying socks.

He loves wearing his service-dog vest and seems to stand a little taller every time it goes on. Rothko is proud of his work and even prouder when he gets to protect his daddy—whether the threat is a nightmare, a suspicious squirrel, a low-flying bird, or an overly curious bee.

Off duty, Rothko is pure dachshund. He loves chasing rabbits, squirrels, birds, and nearly anything else that runs, hops, buzzes, or flies. He is an exceptional ball defender, a devoted squeaky-toy enthusiast, and a highly effective sock interception specialist. Once a pair of flying socks enters his airspace, its destruction is virtually guaranteed.

Rothko is loyal, observant, protective, playful, and completely convinced that his short legs have never limited his authority. He brings purpose to his work, determination to every chase, and comedy to nearly everything else.

Tennessee Dachshund Rescue gave Rothko the opportunity to find his home and his calling. Today, he is equal parts service dog, protector, hunter, athlete, comedian, and beloved best friend—with the heart of a giant packed into one very proud little dachshund.
