Pet’s rescue story in 500 words or less
It all began on a Sunday night. My friend,Irma, showed up at my house with this pup that she rescued . Someone had posted on Craigslist that they needed to get rid of this dog ,if someone didn’t come and get it they were going to just l”release” it into the woods.

We decided to put a harness on her. She was very very scared. She slipped her collar and took off. It was dark. I live near a very busy road. We began looking for her. Everytime we got close she took off like lightning. I posted on our local page on Facebook. Someone I didn’t know offered to be our “contact” person( Mary). Everytime there was a Luna ( her original name) sighting she would update the page. I was getting calls well into the night. Still no luck .
The next morning I got a call from my friend Janet, who owns a pet store. She had shared the post on her page and someone called her. They saw her lying in a local park. I went to the park and there she was . As I was approaching a lawnmower started and scared her . Off she went. The whole town got involved. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was getting calls from people wanting to help or they had spotted her. Mary was vigilant in updating the post.
Someone saw her go into the woods behind a restaurant. A lady went and walked the woods and did indeed spot her but was unable to get close. I then went and walked the woods 3 different times to no avail.

Irma came up with the idea of getting someone with a drone. In stepped James with his drone.
He did see something in those woods but couldn’t identify. I walked the woods again, nothing. It was getting dark. Irma and I decided to call the search off for the night. I got home and the phone rang. A lady was sitting by those woods and saw Luna come out. She tried to get close but Luna took off across the street into an apartment complex. We return.. By now, residents from the apartments were helping. Luna was too fast and scared. She disappeared into the woods.
First thing the next morning I get a call from Janet and her friend Terri. Luna is sitting in the grass in front of the bank near the apartments. I drive over. She sees us and takes off.
Janet returns to her pet store to get some treats. I go on foot looking for her. Finally, I see her ! She’s laying down by a chain link fence.
Janet arrives and is tossing food at her while I am army crawling toward her. Janet reaches her first and we both burst into tears. I have to pick her up and carry her to the car. She is now living her best life with me. She has my whole heart.
