Valen, a handsome seven-month-old yellow Labrador retriever with dark, almond shaped eyes and a broad black nose sits for the camera. He is very light in color. His ears are large, much darker than his torso, and perfectly frame his sweet face. He is wearing his green Seeing Eye puppy vest and training collar with his leather leash draped in front of him. Behind Valen is a bed of rocks bordering a briskly running river, beyond which sits the historic Red Mill of Clinton, New Jersey. The bright sunshine of an early April morning highlights the newly budded green trees and rich red color of the Mill. A short waterfall spanning the width of the river flows while Valen sits observant, undisturbed by the noise of the river and distractions of passers-by.
