Lieutenant Danielle is a silkie hen that was attacked by a raccoon in our backyard chicken coop. The raccoon managed to take one of her legs, but my husband found LD shortly after the attack and nursed her back to health. She is now an amputee (hence her recognizable name) and lives in our living room in an antique dresser we repurposed into a cage. LD makes the commute to the farmer's co-op in Columbiana every morning with my husband and sits in her very own nesting box all day long while my husband works. She spends her afternoons hopping around in the front yard and enjoys entertaining and being entertained by our young daughters. She has been a great blessing to many lives and is living a great story that we love to share.
