Homer is a Leopard Tortoise who was purchased at the reptile show when he was the size of a plum. He developed a respiratory infection soon after purchase and the owner didn't want to pay his vet bills, so he took Homer to the zoo to see if they would treat him for free. The zoo referred him to a local vet, but the owner decided that Homer wasn't worth the cost of treating, so he tossed him in the trash on his way out of the zoo. Homer was dug out of the trash by his new mom and promptly taken to a vet where he was treated. He has now been comfortably living in her backyard for the last 15 years. Now the size of a basketball and can frequently be seen laying with his 4 legged furry friends. He loves to munch on clover and wild strawberries and have his head and neck scratched.
