In 2008 I had just moved out of my parents house and was looking for a pet of my own. I immediately knew I wanted to adopt...that's where my heart has always been. My mom came across an ad of a cute dog in Calera. I was expecting her to have just this pet, but when she asked if I wanted to see others I did not expect what I saw next. It was almost like the scene in Ace Venture Pet Detective when we opens the doors and all the animals come running out (okay, maybe not that extreme). She seriously had to of had about 20 different dogs. This sweet lady would visit the pound and if they had a red mark (which meant they would soon be put down) she would adopt them for fostering.
Among all the dogs this cute little shaggy dog came to me with a toy in his mouth wagging not just his tail...but his whole butt. He stole my heart immediately and already had a perfect name, Bama. Although I originally went for another dog and had never had a male dog in my life, I knew it was meant to be.
The only information the lady knew was that he was 6 months old and had been abandoned by his family. I'll never know what he endured in those first 6 months but I knew he was perfect for my, now husband, and I.
Bama has so much love to give...always. He has such a laid back, chill personality and just goes with the flow. He always greets my husband and I with that wagging butt and something in his mouth. He's a cuddle bug that sleeps right between us every night. He is such a great brother to our other rescue and is so good with our daughter. We're so blessed he came into our lives and fit right in with us.
