Living next to a wooded area with lots of creeks I have the opportunity to view all kinds of wildlife, but Raccoons are my favorite. They're often feared, especially if seen in the daytime. What people don't understand is that the mama's, like this one, often come out in the cooler hours of summer to feed, not because they are sick. Raccoons are some of the smartest animals around & will take every opportunity for an easy snack. Please don't harm them because of that, they are only trying to survive. If you think a raccoon is sick or injured always reach out to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for help. Raccoons are beautiful creatures and very important to the environment. Please always give them the space & compassion they deserve.
