SpeciesGreat Egret
Insight about the shot or speciesThis Great Egret displayed its elegance on a beautiful spring morning. Great Egrets were killed for their plumes in the late 19th and early 20th century due to the feather hat fashion craze. Thanks to a plume-hunting being banned their populations were able to increase. A true conservation success story on what happens when we help nature. Now we can enjoy plenty of their gorgeous plumage in the wild like I did on this morning.
