Pet's Story
Toby’s life started like most puppy’s- he had a home with a loving family where he played with his favorite toys, went on walks, and slept in bed with the children. But, week by week Toby began to become disoriented and his family noticed he was drooling excessively, wouldn’t rest, and he began walking nonstop, pressing his head against the walls. His family took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a liver shunt. His family couldn't cover the expenses of a surgery and without it Toby could die. His family made the very hard decision to surrender him to a local shelter with the hope that Toby would have the chance to get the surgery he needed and live a long and healthy life.

I was volunteering the night Toby arrived at the shelter and we had not yet found a foster to care for him. So we cared for Toby for a couple weeks as the shelter raised the money to have his liver shunt fixed. Our other dogs loved him and he quickly became part of the pack. A few days before Thanksgiving we brought him in for his surgery. The surgery went great and he came home the next day.

It took him a few weeks to recover and by that point we knew he was going to be a "foster fail". He became an "official" family member and we couldn't have found a better fit. He loves to play with his soccer ball in the backyard and will ever "dribble" it around on his own. Toby brings so much personality, love, energy, smiles and fun to our lives everyday.
