Pet's Story
We rescued Queen Pup Laena in Oct. 2024, after hurricane Helene devastated parts of North and South Carolina. We did a DNA test and learned that she is 100% Yorkshire Terrier. She is parti colored which means she doesn't meet breed standard, but we think here coloring is stunning. Laena was saved from a horrible hoarding situation. Twenty-six dogs were found in inhumane conditions. They had no food or water, were soaked to the skin with urine and covered in feces and fleas. An amazing organization called Lucky Pup Rescue stepped in to help 26 dogs with medical treatment. They also found foster homes for all of the animals. After hurricane Helene, many of the shelters and rescues were pleading for adopters and fosters because of the damage they sustained. My husband and I lost or beloved 16-year-old Shih Tzu 5 months earlier. We didn't think we were going to adopt another dog, but then we saw the photo of Laena's face, and knew she was ours. Her Gottcha day is Oct. 3, 2024. She is the sweetest girl. She is unflappable, nothing frightens her including fireworks and thunderstorms. She is calm and loving. Her favorite thing to do, is cuddle with us and play bed zoomies in the morning. We say she is a rescue pup, not because we saved her, but because she rescued us. She is our joy.
