Pet's Story
Oliver (Ollie) came into our lives the night before Thanksgiving in 2019. We found him through Coco's Heart Dog Rescue, and was the smallest, fluffiest pup of his litter. Oliver is from Oklahoma and a proud Sooners fan. He surprised us when he stopped growing at 45 pounds (20lbs less than anticipated) and never shed the soft coat he had as a puppy, which led us to do a Breed DNA test...
We found out Oliver is a mix of mostly Bloodhound, Border Collie, German Shepherd, and a little bit of Husky. The Bloodhound genes are most obvious in his howls at delivery trucks and his nose, which is always glued to the ground as he loves to sniff and track scents. We see the hint of Husky in his fluffy fur and vocals… Oliver is not shy about expressing himself with grunts, squeaks, and dramatic sighs, letting us know exactly how he feels.
Ollie adores wearing bandanas because it means he is going on a car ride and adventure to somewhere with his parents. He is always just excited to be coming along, destination unknown. We are careful to ditch his bandana if our outing is to the vet, careful to protect the magic.
Oliver is a creature of habit and follows a strict evening schedule. Dinner is served at 6 PM sharp, followed by a 7:30 PM loop around the neighborhood. At 8 PM, post-walk zoomies and playing with toys before putting himself to bed upstairs by 9 PM, with or without his owners. Our little man is sweet and very sensitive, always needing the last hug or kiss whenever someone leaves our home. He will cry loudly if he thinks we forgot about his goodbye or if someone else is getting the very last one.
He's our "perma-pup" with his fluffy puppy coat, gentle demeanor around children & other dogs, and how much he cherishes his collection of stuffed toys. Toys are kept in a steady rotation with no clear favorites and part of his fun is digging to find long-lost friends… Frequent playtime selections are his pink squeaky ball (first toy as a puppy) & a stuffed tequila bottle. We are now up to 5 baskets of dog toys scattered throughout the house because I cannot bring myself to throw any out.
Oliver loves summer, his grandma, and his routines. On the flip side, he hates garbage trucks, Mondays, doorbell sounds in TV commercials, and when his parents accidentally set off the smoke alarm.
Oliver's story is filled with love, bandana adventures, and the joy he brings to our family every day. 🐾❤️
Pet's Best Personality Trait
When Oliver sees another dogs or humans while on a walk, he will freeze mid-step and lay flat on the pavement wagging his tail waiting to say hi... whether or not they are headed in our direction
