My sweet Carley came to the Athens county shelter when her owner passed away. As a volunteer, I watched her get overlooked for months, as senior dogs often do, and I fell in love with her. As soon as I found dog friendly housing, I took her home with me. She has gone from shut down and confused to the most carefree and goofy girl! Her playfulness, love, and loyalty remind me how much a second chance matters for so many shelter dogs. She is the love of my life! I know she will always miss her first person, but I count myself lucky to be her new forever.
