Maya Lou was found frozen to the ground in the brutal Missouri winter just 4 pounds of pure will to survive. At approx 10 years old and severely malnourished, she was rescued by Mac’s Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to saving special needs and at-risk dogs. When we heard her story, we knew she was meant to be part of our family. We drove all the way from Glouster to Missouri in a snowstorm to bring her home.
We named her Maya Lou after the legendary Missouri-born Maya Angelou. A fierce, resilient voice for the overlooked and underestimated. Just like her namesake, our Maya is the ultimate underdog she is a survivor, a fighter, and now, a deeply loved member of our pack.
