Steel is now the oldest dog living in the Athens County Dog Shelter and he's also the longest resident. He came in this February after his owner passed away. We believe Steel spent a lot of his life tied up outside. Steel has since learned about the good life of living indoors and the wonders of modern medicine. His current pastimes include rolling around in the grass and hanging out in nice, shady spots in the yard- activities he would happily share with a new family!

Steel is very affectionate with his handlers, but has become more shut down over time and we know that the shelter environment is hard on him. Still, Steel tries to keep a good attitude and is looking forward to retirement in a real home. Most if not all of the underdog entries are dogs with families of their own. Steel is the ultimate underdog because he keeps a good attitude despite losing everything he has ever known. Steel is available for adoption at the Athens County Dog Shelter.
