Koa was found emaciated and full of ticks and fleas on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii in 2006. She was dumped by someone but the gain was all ours, soon becoming a foster failure and permanent fixture in our lives. Koa is what is called a 'poi dog' which is a mixed dog in Hawaii. In fact, it has been said given her unusual looks that perhaps she was designed by committee. Koa LOVES all creatures great and small making her an amazing therapy dog and member of the only cat and dog therapy team in Hawaii. Recently a resident of VB, Koa is also a cancer survivor having now defied the odds being in remission for 6 months!
