In 2018 Mango lived in a junkyard and only got the bare minimum amount of care she needed to survive. She was lonely and heartworm positive. She made it out of the junkyard when it caught on fire, but her nightmare wasn't over. She was taken to the PG County animal shelter, where she was not a candidate for adoption because of her breed. The odds were stacked against this sweet little dog, and just the thought that she could have died multiple times is heartbreaking.

Luckily VPBR had an open foster home and we were able to pull her out of the shelter, help her heal from where the fire singed her, got her the heartworm treatment she needed, and make her available for adoption.

Then, like a fairytale, her new people came along and adopted her! She has a canine sibling named Lucy and a beautiful baby sister to dote on.
