Galena came to the Wood County Humane Society in February of 2022. She was very afraid at the shelter, and spent 5 months in foster care. Her adoption picture is her new people sitting on either side of her kennel - she was too afraid to come out. Galena spent the first several days at her new home living in the half bath and cowering behind the toilet. Hours were spent gently talking to her. After about a week, she stopped hiding. After another week she allowed her first pets, and tentatively ventured out of her safe space to explore. Weeks 3-4 she began to show her playful side, racing up and down flipping toys, her paw-pads squeaking on the hardwood floor. At about 6 weeks, she allowed herself to be gently slid into a lap sitting cross legged on the floor. Galena is now sitting on a lap in a chair.

WCHS recognized the potential in this gentle little soul, waiting for the right people to come along. We can’t begin to thank them, and her foster family, enough! Galena has healed our heartache from the loss of our elderly cat. She is a joy, and, she is HOME.
