Pet's Story
River is a Husky, Collie, Shepard cross who we adopted at 16 weeks old, when we made an unexpected trip to PetSmart. We saw that the Humane Society was doing an adoption day there, and thought we would take a look! From the moment we saw her we loved her, being a pup she was exhausted from a long day of visits, but when we went into her kennel area, she got up and laid her head on my leg and we knew we had to have her. The next day we adopted her, after being told the person in front of us didn’t take her.

Rivers name comes from the reserve she was rescued from (Shamattawa), which is located on the banks of Gods River. River has brought so much love and joy to our lives. She is incredibly smart, kind and melts the hearts of everyone who meets her. Following with her husky traits she’s feisty, and isn’t shy to wake us up with a head nudge or paw to the arm if it’s breakfast time and you’re still sleeping. She’s very protective of those she loves, and will howl at every Amazon driver who dares deliver a package to her home.

We would love to help raise money for the Humane Society as they helped us find her. We also want to help raise funds for them as they desperately need supplies for animals who have been injured, displaced and lost their homes on reserves due to the wildfires up north on reserves similar to the ones she was born on.
