Pet's Story
Dougie was rescued from a high kill shelter in California 11 years ago. He made his way to Canada via Funds for Pets rescue for a hopeful adoption.
We welcomed him into our small family where he made an immediate impact. He was a tiny guy with a huge heart. He showed love and companionship to our senior dog when they both needed it the most. He shows affection to everyone he meets, especially children and loves to cuddle and kiss.
Dougie has also been amazing in helping us foster other dogs. He has a very calming nature that puts other dogs and even people at ease.
Dougie is a real survivor. Not only was he forced to navigate dangerous streets and avoid being put down in a shelter known for short stays, he also survived cancer.
After surgeries and chemotherapy, he is now almost six years cancer free!
It’s hard to imagine our lives without this little guy.
They say small dogs have long lifespans, so cheers to another 11 years!
