Pet's Story
Cassie was rescued by Wild North Dog Rescue and brought to Gillam - and that’s where her new life began! She had spent her early life neglected and on a chain, which left her with low muscle mass in her back legs and a bit of anxiety. But what it didn’t take from her was her sweetness. Cassie is the kindest, gentlest soul you’ll ever meet.

She’s now living the good life as the world’s most loyal couch-sneaker. While we’re at work, Cassie climbs onto the couch for a cozy nap, which is the one and only bit of mischief she allows herself. She’s endlessly trustworthy, incredible with children, and truly the kind of dog you’d trust with your life.

Cassie has a soft spot for tennis balls and her “carcasses” - the empty shells of once-stuffed toys that she carefully de-fluffs and proudly carries around like prized possessions. She also loves to swim, like she was born to do. Cassie would also risk her life for bacon. She is obsessed.

Every vet she meets estimates her age at around 8–10, so we decided Cassie will always be 10. It suits her, she is wise, snuggly, and endlessly patient, but still down for a good run through the fields and a splash in the puddles.

She prefers to be an only dog, not out of sass, but because she loves being doted on. If she could get scritches 24/7, life would be perfect.

Cassie’s story is one of quiet resilience, big heart, and second chances - and we think she’d look pretty cute on a beer can, raising money for animals just like her.
