The fundraiser opens at 9:00 am CST on April 1, 2025. The contest closes at 12:00 pm CST on April 22, 2025. All fundraising must occur within these dates.
This fundraiser is open to any animal, they do not have to be an alumni of WHS. This includes: dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and critters. No farm animals or exotic pets are eligible for entry. Your entry/pet can be from your past (deceased) or present, so long as you have a quality photo that shows all their cuteness.
Participants must be residents of Manitoba. Voters from outside of Manitoba & Canada are welcomed and eligible.
Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. Promotions where bonus votes can be awarded, will be announced on the fundraising website.
Those who donate $18.00 or more will receive a tax-receipt.
The Winnipeg Humane Society reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of the animal or persons in a photo. Donations collected will be refunded if requested by the donor.
By agreeing to the waiver, you acknowledge and give permission to the Winnipeg Humane Society to use the name, story and photo of the animal entered for future publications and materials, including - but not limited to - the 2026 WHS Calendar.
Photos submitted for the calendar must include at least one animal, who should be present in no less than 2/3 of the frame.
Please ensure that the photo is sharp and in focus with a clean background.
All submitted photos cannot contain a person. Animals only.
All entries must be in colour.
If your entry was taken by a commercial studio, please include a signed copyright release from the photographer with your entry.
If your animal has been "Pet of the Month" in a prior WHS calendar and you earn a "Pet of the Month" spot in the 2026 calendar, you may not re-use the same image from past calendars. You may use whatever picture you like for the contest, but the image that is placed in the 2026 calendar must be different.
The winners will be announced on the homepage of the website within three days after the contest closes. The winners will also be contacted directly by the Winnipeg Humane Society after the fundraiser closing.
Fundraiser winners will need to re-submit their photo to Winnipeg Humane Society as a high resolution, print quality image. Winners will be notified where to send photos. If photos submitted do not meet requirements, then the winner will be asked to submit a second photo.
If appropriate, print-quality photos (see Photo Requirements/Rules) are not provided by the deadline, the WHS will offer the spot in the calendar to the next runner up.
