Spanky came into our lives one fall morning when I went out to get the newspaper and noticed the gopher live trap had been tripped. I went to the end of the porch and quickly realized it wasn't a gopher, but a tiny orange kitten in the trap. We had seen momma and her 3 kittens for about a week. We took him out - feisty as he was and brought him in. It took days of holding and comforting him for him to come around to trust us and not see us as the enemy - but he finally did and I made a promise to him to never let anything happen to him. He is the most lovable, sweet, gentle soul I've ever met. He still isn't fond of strangers, but once he gets to know you - you are a friend for life!
