Tell voters something fun or interesting about the dog in the photo. Is this a WRS dog or rescued from another organization? If so, when was it adopted? Share something special that we could include on our calendar if your photo wins.
Our boys, Porter and Huckleberry, are our third and fourth weims. They are very good company for their older sister, Merlot who came to us through Heartland Weimaraner Rescue.
Porter and Huckleberry (and their 8 siblings) were orphaned at 10 days old when their mom, Remi, died of bloat. We had also recently lost our first weim (Smoky) to bloat so when we heard the story of Remi's babies we knew that we had to help. We went to meet them and had intended to only bring home one blue boy but we just couldn't bear to separate these two. We adopted both of them at 5 weeks, which is very early, but given the circumstance of trying to nurse so many babies we all felt that we could give them more individual attention. They were so small that they had to swaddled to keep them warm and they had to be bottle fed. When they came home with us they liked to suckle on pacifiers!
Remi's human, Gayle took such good care of all of the babies though. Because of her, all ten of Remi's babies were healthy and adopted. We have been able to keep in touch with most of the families through Facebook so we have been able to watch Porter and Huckleberry's sibling grow up too.
