Harvey was adopted in 2017 when he was only 2 years of age. Harvey was originally a Texas boy; surrendered from Texas’ Hurricane Harvey that summer.

When adopted, it was hard not to notice his tranquil and peaceful demeanor, despite him being a survivor of a catastrophic hurricane. After living with him for a few months, I felt his ease of trainability was right in line for volunteering in some capacity. In 2018, I enrolled the two of us in a few obedience classes, and we both did very well. Once we captured our AKC Good Citizen certification, it was time to take the next step. Although we lost 2 years of training and testing due to the pandemic, I am happy to report that we finally were tested and passed the Intermountain Therapy Animals test in 2023 and now, certified as as a volunteer pet therapy team with Cold Noses Warm Hearts, here in CT.

At a spry, 9 years young, he looks forward to his daily walks , especially the park, where he gets to interact with nature and the community. He loves his spa days with me, his little dog toys that he often carries around with him and his snuggling time with family and friends.
Not only a best friend to me and loving companion, however, he has become a significant member of my family and my community.
Harvey and I continue to look forward to sharing our team support at local farmers markets, schools and community events. It is because of your efforts at YGRR, that dogs like Harvey get to have their second chance in their life’s work.
