Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States.

We do this by:

  1. Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
  2. Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
  3. Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
  4. Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
  5. Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

A little about me...
Henlo, my name is Finneas but everyone calls me Finn. My dad found me on PuppySpot last year after his last Doxie, Shrek, passed away from Congestive Heart Failure in April 2022. I was born in March 2022 and came home in June 2022. My dad and I live with his grandfather, who is a disabled veteran. I call great-grandpa "Buddy" because he is my buddy while dad is at work. My favorite activities are destroying toys, chasing the outdoor cats around the yard, gazing out of the windows, giving high-fives, RVing with dad and Buddy, and traveling to various places. At the time of this writing, we were last to Ocean City, MD where I had a great time. I loved watching the seagulls and visiting the shops. Dad bought/won me several seagulls while we were there which made me extremely happy. As you can see by my photo, I enjoyed being on the boardwalk. Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk, but I am registered as my dad's Emotional Support Animal. My dad suffers from anxiety and major depression. Even though I am a typical Doxie and am a wild child, I do so much to calm my dad when he is having trouble. I am nearly inseparable from my dad and he really loves having me by his side. Please feel free to leave a vote for me to support DARE and the other Doxies that need care and compassion. Famks in advance!!
