Enter your favorite photo of your political animal to win one of 12 coveted spots in Earl Grey's Cabinet! See below for all the categories and what is expected of each Ministry!

Choose one of the 12 Cabinet postings below and tell us in 250 words or less why your animal deserves a spot beside the future Prime Minister of Canada – Earl Grey the cat!
 
1. Minister of Cattitude
This ministry is responsible for celebrating all things feline and all the reasons why they are the most awesome companion animal!
 
2. Minister of Stealth and Welfare
This ministry focuses on responsible pet guardianship: micro-chipping, regular vet care, making sure your pet gets enough exercise.
 
3. Minister of National Defence
This seat will focus on spay and neuter advocacy with the goal of creating federally-funded accessible spay and neuter programs in every community across Canada.
 
4. Minister of Fur-eign Affairs
This seat will be focused on shutting down puppy mills, creating stronger laws to regulate breeding and other dog welfare issues.
 
5. Minister of Naps
This Minister will ensure that naps are finally put on the national political agenda, for the benefit of all species. Because there is no issue too big or too complex that can’t be solved with a good nap!
 
6. Minister of Catnip
This Minister focuses on the accessibility of catnip for Canada's cats. Within the first 100 days in office, we will launch a Royal Commission on Catnip.
 
7. Associate Minister of Catnip
Fills in for the Minister of Catnip when she or he is in an altered state. The Minister of State for Catnip will step in if both the Minister and Associate Minister of Catnip are incapacitated.
 
8. Minister of Justice
This Minister will be Earl’s right hand in updating the federal laws to better protect animals from cruelty, abuse and neglect.
 
9. Minister for Farm Animals
Canadians expect all animals to be treated with dignity and respect and so does Prime Minister Earl, so this Ministry will focus on raising awareness about the plight of farm animals and speaking out about their rights.
 
10. Minister of Freedom & Protection
This Minister will be responsible for advocating on the top issues for zoo animals and wild animal populations in Canada.
 
11. Minister of Animal-Human Relations
This Minister is a diplomatic ambassador who will bring animal welfare concerns to the attention to humans and advocates on behalf of all animals in Canada.
 
12. Create Your Own Cabinet Seat!
Do you have a Canadian animal welfare issue that’s close to your heart and not listed here? Propose your own Cabinet post and people will vote in their favourite idea!

This contest is open to animals, regardless of species or citizenship.

Contest Entry
You must submit a photo of your animal and include:
  • Name of Animal
  • Your Name
  • Your Email
  • Your City and Province
  • A paragraph that tells voters why your animal deserves to be nominated for the Cabinet.
Digital photos are recommended. Photos must be clear, of good quality and high resolution — 300 dpi or higher in TIFF or JPG format — and no greater than 5MB. Sorry, we cannot accept hard copies.

All submitted photos will be shared out on the CFHS pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

All entries must be the original work of the entrant. You must own the copyright to the photograph.


Contest & Voting Fees
Each entry is free.

The submissions period starts on September 23, 2015 at 8:00 AM EDT and ends on October 19, 2015 at 11:00 PM EDT.

Each $1 donation counts as one (1) vote. We encourage you to email the contest link to family and friends and encourage them to vote for your favorite contestant's photo. Votes may be cast during the voting period only. All donations for votes are non-refundable and not tax deductible (there was a vote in exchange for the donation). Entries and donations must be made via the online contest page. Donations and photo entries for this online contest that are submitted via other means (snail mail, in person or main website donation page) will be accepted as donations but not applied toward the contest. Contest payments online are through a secure site.


Prize Awarding
CFHS will attempt to notify the top 12 contestants with the most votes via telephone or email on or about November 1, 2015. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt to contact him/her, the sponsor may select an alternate potential winner in his/her place from the next non-winning, eligible top vote-getter.


Winner Notification
The potential winners will be notified by email or phone. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these official rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner among remaining eligible entries. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the contest.


Award
The top Cabinet Contestant in each category will be featured in a commemorative photo of Earl Grey and his Cabinet. Copies will be mailed to each winner.

Miscellaneous
CFHS reserves the right to modify or clarify any of the contest rules during the term of the contest without advance notice.

CFHS reserves the right to use any photos submitted for marketing purposes.
