Contest has ended. Eastern Time

Rules

The #DTMarion Photo Contest is open to all photographers who are at least 13 years of age at the time the photograph is entered into the contest.

There is no limit on the number of entries per person; however, each entry must comply with the following requirements:

All entries must be submitted between January 1, 2017 and January 27, 2017 at 11:59pm EST. Voting will be open from January 1, 2017 until January 31, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.

There is a $1.00 fee to enter a photo into the contest, and voting is only $1.00 per vote.

There will be one (1) winner from both the student and adult category, which will be the photo with the most votes taken/submitted by a student (age 13-18) photographer and the photo with the most votes taken/submitted by an adult (age 18+) photographer, respectively.

* Photographs must have been taken within two (2) years of the date of entry into the contest; the subject of the photo must be within the Downtown Marion district, and the photo itself must not have previously won an award in this #DTMarion photo contest. (The Downtown Marion district includes the south side of the Mississinewa River to Tenth Street and Nebraska Street to Shunk Street.)

Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted so long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another person's art.

The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the contest entrant. By entering this contest, an entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant; that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity, or intellectual property rights of any person or entity; and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph.

The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the sponsor(s), contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

The caption, or entry information, must be complete and accurate and sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken. Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of the content is cause for disqualification.

Watermarks are not acceptable.

Main Street Marion reserves the right to use any photo submitted into the contest for publicity purposes. Photographers will receive photo credit. Main Street Marion will not sell entered photos without the prior written permission of the entrant.

Marion General Hospital will purchase the winning photograph(s) at fair market value. The entrant shall receive the profit from said sale.

*** If photographs do not meet all of the requirements listed above, they will not be eligible to win or receive a prize even if they have received votes in the contest. Please make sure you read all of the rules carefully and contact Main Street Marion if you have any questions about whether or not your photo will qualify.
