We met on a sunny, late Summer afternoon. He came running, full bore from the back of the kennel, crazy teeth bared, circled around me and pushed straight out through the front door into the parking lot! A few moments later he was in the back of my car, content to never look back!!
... Red came to us after having a stretch of bad luck. Seized and taken to the Denver Animal shelter from who knows exactly what or where. Tossed from home to home and one boarding facility to the next. He came very scared, and in desperate shape, but never without a smile! His big toothy grin has come to be one of his trademarks! He is goofy and silly and sweet. He is strong but also a big scaredy cat! He loves treats, and long walks, and WATER!!! He is quite the swimmer and all around athlete! He is a big headed lunk, and a HUGE love! And he loves his squeaky toys!! But he is also a very sensitive boy, and very gentle. Especially with children. And he is SO much FUN!! He loves nothing more than a PARTY!!! (note the party hat!) It may have taken a while, but he has the life now! We didn't just save him, however, Red saved me! One night I had a terrible medical emergency and Red kept me conscious and wouldn't leave my side, even when the paramedics came!! He's my Big Red hero. He always fit into our home, right from the moment he came through the door. And I loved him immediately! He was our foster for 9 months when finally on our wedding anniversary my husband signed the adoption papers as a surprise for me! He was ours at last! Now he pibble wiggles happily all over the place!! And don't forget the belly rubs, please! He is our big, silly boy! This picture is from his adoption party / our Anniversary. Now we celebrate the day we all became a family together!
