The Aberdeen Area Humane Society in Aberdeen, SD originated in 1982 and serves a very large area encompassing much of north central and northeast South Dakota as well as south central and southeast North Dakota. It is our mission to shelter homeless animals, place animals into good homes and to rescue animals from abusive situations. We are proud to be the only no-kill shelter in the region.
The Aberdeen Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses to care for the animals. The AAHS receives no city, state, or federal dollars or financial support from national humane organizations.
