A little about me...
Iris arrived as a 9 year old foster dog in 2019, through local rescue. Iris filled the void left behind after my previous English Setter had passed - I had a dog in my house again! I fostered her because I was waiting for Claire (ES) to arrive. Claire had been delayed a month due to health issues (see Claire's bio). I still had Iris when Claire finally arrived. Iris fell in love with Claire immediately, and recognized that Claire needed special care. I had to adopt them both! We called her ‘Nurse Iris’ or ‘Sister Iris’, since she would stay near Claire and protect her from dogs that might hurt Claire. Iris was very timid and shy and would not even come to me or let me pet her at first. Iris had virtual training for timid dogs because Covid stopped all in-person classes. Iris was afraid of the computer, so I leashed her to keep her in the room. Other dogs in the class were learning sit, stay and other commands. We settled for “Watch me" and "Come" as her success words. Her fears have abated quite a bit, and it is now possible to walk near her and even step over her without her running to another room. Iris adored Claire, and was by Claire's side when Claire passed. Acupuncture, laser, and chiropractic appointments are now only for Iris for her arthritis. Iris misses her sister dearly, and is hoping for a new sister sometime soon.
