A little about me...
Can you find the "Petals" in this picture? Ahhh...spring in Atlanta! We adopted her in 2019 (right before the pandemic, so it was good timing). About 2 months later her left eye became totally dilated and would not react to light and the vet told us that could possibly mean a brain tumor. So off to the canine neurologist we go. We were told yes, it could be a brain tumor but she suggested that we go to a canine ophthalmologist first (before spending $6,000 on an MRI just to find out if it was in fact a brain tumor...before any treatment!). So off to the canine ophthalmologist we go. (Did I mention that at this point we had all fingers, toes and eyes and paws crossed??) She determined that it was an inflamed optic nerve...which could be caused by a brain tumor. She decided to treat her for toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease, which apparently can cause that optic nerve issue. It can come from a dog eating things they should not be eating (and I'll leave it at that!) and since she was found as a stray that was a possibility. She said to give it some time and here it is almost 6 years later and she is still with us and doing fine. She lost her sight in that eye but it could've been so much worse! She's our little one-eyed wonder!
