All legal (based on their jurisdiction) pets are eligible to participate and every registered pet will be included in the calendar. Pets that do not win third prize or higher may not be featured on a monthly page but will be on one of the special Puparrazzi and Purrrrfect pages before or after the monthly pages inside the calendar.  Each registration fee includes one complimentary copy of the 2016 Calendar. All  participants are to pick up their calendars at the shelter by December 15, 2015. Shipping for a fee may be arranged for those who are unable to pick up their calendars. The registration fee is $30 for one photo. More than one pet is permitted in each photo. If a photo has more than one pet, all pets in the photo will be recognized and the person who submitted the photo will be recognized as the their owner. Photos should be of the pet(s) only—no humans, please. Photo must be 300dpi and at least 1MB in size. Please no Instagram-style or similarly filtered/altered images. Participants may only submit photos to which they have the rights to reproduce and to enter.

Entries and votes can be made online, by mail, in person, email and by phone. There is a minimum of $25 to make votes by mail, in person, by email or by phone.

All entries and votes must be submitted by the deadlines listed below to be pictured in the calendar or to be counted. Entries and votes made:
  • Online must be received by noon on September 17, 2015;
  • By mail or in person entries must arrive at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter by noon on September 15, 2015. We cannot count post marked dates;
  • By email must by received at by 10am on September 17th, 2015;
  • By phone must be called in to 703-746-5512 by 10am on September 17th, 2015.
AWLA reserves the right to request a replacement photo in order to best represent the pet in terms of quality of the photo and to fit within the constraints of the prize they have won. For example, first prize winners may be asked to submit a photo with horizontal orientation, and second prize winners may be asked to submit a photo with vertical orientation. Additionally, if two photos of a similar theme both win first or second prize, preference will be given to the higher fundraiser. (New photo to be provided at the owner's expense).

All votes must be submitted by the deadlines listed above to be counted.

Each vote is $1, and there is no limit to the number of votes one may cast. There is a minimum vote amount of $5 online and $25 mailed, in person, emailed or phoned in votes. You may vote for your own photo. Online voting begins as soon as the photo is registered and ends at noon on September 17, 2015.

Prizes will be awarded based on fundraising totals. The Grand Prize will be awarded to the participant who places first in amount of votes received.

Please note, the computer tabulation of online votes at times may have up to a 15 minute delay between when a gift is received/recorded and when it is reflected in the leaderboard. The contest will end at 12:00PM** EDT on September 17 and the amount listed on the board at that time will be the final results. We will be unable to refund votes submitted that are not listed in the final results or votes submitted after the deadline. Participants can check the website for final results and winners will be contacted on or about September 18, 2015.
