Waggin’ Tails Beer Label Contest

Rules

This fundraiser is open to any animal — they do not have to be an alum of Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. Eligible pets include dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and small critters. No farm animals or exotic pets are eligible for entry. Your entry can feature a past (deceased) or present pet, as long as you have a quality photo that captures their personality and cuteness.

You must be 18+ years of age to participate in Waggin’ Tails Beer Label Contest. This includes both submitting an entry and fundraising.

Participants must be residents of the United States. Voters from outside the U.S. are welcome and eligible.

The contest opens at 12:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Monday, October 13, 2025. Voting closes at 9:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Monday, November 3, 2025. All fundraising/voting must occur within these dates.

Winners will be announced via Facebook post at the completion of the contest. Winners  will also be notified directly by Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.

Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. Promotions where bonus votes can be awarded will be announced on the GoGo Photo Contest fundraising website.

Winners will be determined based on the number of votes raised by their entry. All donations must be made online and directly to your entry to be counted towards your total. All donations to the photo contest are final. To join the contest, you must create an entry on the fundraiser website.

If there is a tie for second place, those contestants will be entered into a random draw. The winner of the draw will be featured on the limited-edition label.

Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of the animal or persons in a photo. Donations collected will be refunded if requested by the donors.

By agreeing to the waiver when you enter the fundraiser, you acknowledge and give permission  to The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Serious Brewing Company and Helderberg Mountain Brewing Company to use the name, story, and photo of the animal entered in future publications, promotions, and materials.

Image and Name Requirements for Winners
  • Winners must own the rights to the photo they provide (photos taken by professional photographers that have not granted written permission are not eligible).
  • Photo must be high-quality and high-resolution, including only the winning animal (no other animals or humans), and the animal should occupy at least 2/3 of the frame.
  • Ensure that the photo is sharp, in focus, and has a clean background.
  • No images that conflict with The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley policies or procedures will be accepted (e.g., no animals may appear to be in distress). If a photo is deemed ineligible, the winning contestant will have five days to submit a new photo. If a usable photo cannot be provided, the label spot will go to the next eligible contestant.

About Us
Mission Statement

We are a no-kill, open-admission animal shelter that does not discriminate by breed. As the only shelter in our county serving both cats and dogs, we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and finding loving homes for every animal. Our work is mostly funded by donations, which support all animal housing, food, staffing support, veterinary care and medical needs. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

About the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc.

Founded in 1975, the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc. was established by compassionate residents of Schoharie County who were deeply concerned about the growing number of hungry, abused, and stray animals in the area. Determined to make a difference, this dedicated group raised the funds needed to build the county’s first animal shelter at 304 Howes Cave Road in Howes Cave, NY. From this location, they began rescuing, caring for, and rehoming abandoned animals, offering them a second chance at life in loving homes.

As the years went on, the original shelter building could no longer meet the growing demand. In 2010, thanks once again to the incredible support of the community, funds were raised to construct a modern, expanded facility on the same property. The current shelter, still in use today, can accommodate up to 33 dogs and 50 cats, providing a safe and welcoming environment for animals in need.

In the spring of 2023, the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley received a transformative gift—a generous donation from Nicholas Juried, along with funding from the New York State Companion Animal Capital Fund Grant. With this vital support, the shelter is now planning the construction of a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic on-site. This new facility will enhance the care available to animals at the shelter and enable the organization to offer low-cost spay and neuter clinics to Schoharie County residents, helping to reduce the number of unwanted litters and promote responsible pet ownership throughout the community.
