Short story about how the animal has changed the owner's life for the better
The day Venus was scheduled to come home, I was unexpectedly very sick in bed. When she came into our entryway, without hesitation, she walked straight through our house, leaped up on the high bed, and planted many wet kisses. Since that day, our "reactive, adult-only home, single-dog home" rescue dog, Venus, has learned to love care days at a home with two other dogs, and to await a group of young boys who shout her name from the school bus. She investigates then paws almost every adult she meets, while being extra-gentle with children. She flops down against them, requesting pets with her eyes. We also discovered she is a lover, not a fighter, at our local dog parks, even intervening when rough-housing gets heated between any other dogs. Here's Venus just as she started smiling (photo), at month 4 with us, post rescue. The only thing better than this is our "Venus sandwich" cuddle in the morning, when she makes long happy sighs, paws way up in the air or resting on us. Thank you, APCSM!! We adore her.
