My Pet's Story
When I started working at APR in February, I knew as an animal lover I would fall in love with every animal there, but I did not expect to fall so in love I couldn’t bare to part with one of them. Maru, formerly Mama D, came on my radar when she was the featured 365 cat of the month in March. I was told she was so shy that when people would apply for her because of her beauty, they would turn her away due to her skittish nature. I found her to be charming, funny, and friendly. She would quietly watch me work and then come over to politely ask for pets. I would start to spend days after my work day was done wanting to hang out with her. I started to visualize her hanging out on the couch with me or sleeping at my feet. After seeing so many cats spend their entire lives at the shelter I couldn’t stand seeing her there another day. She has brought so much laughter and joy to our lives. I love seeing her acclimate to being a house cat and gain confidence and know she’s safe and home. We love her so much, and she loves her siblings too! She also makes excellent stank faces.
