Sumo is the ultimate foster fail and the biggest lover you’ll ever meet. This kind, gentle “hippo” has a heart as big as his paws. Calm, non-reactive, and endlessly patient, Sumo has become a trusted support dog for pups who are fearful or reactive around others.

He has a natural gift: helping nervous dogs feel safe. Thanks to his steady presence, several dogs who once struggled to coexist with others have found confidence just by spending time with him. One particularly heartwarming bond is with a dog who endured severe abuse and was deeply distrusting of humans—until Sumo came along. Now, that dog allows people to pet him, but only when Sumo is by his side.
