Artist Statement (include type of art, techniques & materials used, what it means to you)I chose to create my work based on what makes people smile……Ice cream. I chose this as all people can enjoy it. And it gave me an excuse to ENJOY EATING ICE CREAM
I gathered photos of family and friends enjoying ice cream. You can see this from there expressions that they are enjoying there ice creams
I sourced bright fabric and materials in order to make my work POP and used inspiration from ‘Katie Essam’ who is an artists.
Since being diagnosed many things I have had to give up and can not do anymore. Ice cream however is something I can still enjoy many years on after diagnosis.
The past 12 months have been extremely hard for myself. I had a reoccurrence of the cystic element in 2018. Resulting in surgery this January. I am still recovering from this so Art craft and design is a therapy I enjoy to takeaway stress and get enjoyment out of day-to-day life
Artist Bio: Tell Us Your Story10 years ago today (25.4.24) I was diagnosed with a Craniopharyngioma. I have had to give up many things that I love such as dance and gymnastics and circus skills .
Being able to do art and textiles is the 1 thing I am still able to enjoy even though if I do sew my hand swells due to osteoporosis and distal muscle wasting,
