My Story
I had been exploring adoption for a while when a friend told me about an available rescue pup. One look at the tiny guy in his crate, his signature "lazy ear" sagging joyfully and I was hooked.

Just a walk around the parking lot, and we fell in love!

Naming him wasn't hard at all, he is such a chipper guy, always nudging me out of a funk, melting my heart with his deep brown eyes and that ear. I named him after the happiest person I've ever known - my dad.

Charlie goads me to get out of bed when I want to stay another hour. On rainy days he reminds me he won't melt, nor will I. Snow days he plows a path with his nose to the ground. When summer settles into a long hot, muggy pattern, he pries me from the air conditioning to the out of doors.

I read Mary Oliver's poetry to him, and he listens intently, his head cocked a bit to one side. As I drink my morning coffee, he nestles up to my leg. The only thing he likes better than a treat is a ball. He flies after it like a quarter horse, his stubby legs barely touching the ground.

He makes me laugh often. He comforts when I cry. He is endlessly forgiving if I'm in a bad mood. He radiates joy. I cannot imagine my life without Charlie.
