The Fairy Tale of Sookie

In May 2016 my husband and I lost our dear sweet Delilah to kidney failure, leaving behind her brother Sampson. After months of giving Sampson extra love, we decided it was time to visit the Asheville Humane Society for an "older pet adoption" weekend ... and that's where we met Sookie (a one year old hound).

We walked up and down the dog area and thought we knew who we wanted to see, but Sookie locked eyes with my husband... and that was IT! We brought Sampson in for the meet and greet and there was an instant big brother/little sister connection, we knew we had to have her!

Sookie's kennel name was Gladys, she still needed to be spayed so we couldn't take her home right away. We told everyone about our new girl, but because she had JUST been dropped off there were no photos online for us to share, the suspense became even greater.

Sookie came home with us to help our broken hearts continue to heal over the loss of Delilah 8/9/2016, and as of 4/15/2018, she's been continuing to do just that as we lost our sweet Sammy suddenly. We love Sookie and can't imagine life without her and are so grateful to AHS for giving her a place to stay while she waited for her "furever" home.

**Updated to add ... Sookie is officially a big sister as we just adopted a hound puppy and named him Willy, they are both settling in together quite well**
