My Story
I was in Valladolid, Yucatan, Mexico, when Nachito found me. I first saw him running down the middle of the street at full speed, full of spirit, and energy, and painfully emaciated.
At first look, I knew he needed food, compassion, and someone to care for him. I got some dog food (which I was keeping on hand for street dogs) and welcomed him into the yard. There really were no questions asked - he knew that he was home.
I later found out, that he had been the puppy of a young woman who was renting an apartment on the street where I first saw him. When it came time for her to move out of her apartment, she left Nachito in the street, abandoned.
Nachito drove with my husband and me all the way from the Yucatan, across the border, and back home to Asheville. He loves to travel, and will be joining us on a cross - country camping trip this summer.
Ignacio Wigglesworth del Campo (Nachito) is a Malix - Mayan word for stray dog or mutt. He is sweet, and smart, and almost always happy. He wants to be everyone's friend.
