My Story
This is Denali, my best friend, my co-pilot, my hiking buddy, my old man, and ‘my’ first dog (that wasn’t a family dog). He’s been with me since 2006 when he ran in front of my car while I was driving through Greensboro. He had a collar with no tags, and a deactivated chip. I took him to a local vet that had their own rescue. They searched for an owner for two weeks—with no prevail. At that point they called me stating if I wanted to adopt him I could—I went straight away. Since then he goes with me everywhere. He has helped me overcome numerous struggles in my life—divorce, illness, and so much more! He has also had his own battles with cancer—which resulted in a tail amputation, a torn CCL, and is now dealing with bilateral arthritis in his hips. He has the cutest nub ever!
He now has another husky brother, Jonen, and a sister who is a pit mix, Sierra. They are my three stooges. I dont’t know what my life would be without them. I truly believe in the quote “My rescue dogs ended up rescuing me”. I know mine certainly have; especially Denali who’s been with me through thick and thin! Denali is now 13 and is still spunky as ever (will be 14 in October!). I wish time would stop and he’d never age another day. He’s one of a kind!
