My Story
Gusto came to us thanks to Hurricane Irma. He was a stray in south Florida, and found his way to a local shelter there. Before the hurricane hit, shelters all over Florida and Georgia sent their dogs north to a temporary shelter set up by the ASPCA. My wife Cheryl, who works for the ASPCA, got sent down to the temp shelter to help out and she fell in love with this blue-eyed handsome devil. It was an easy sell for the rest of the family and he came home to us in Asheville, where he turns heads wherever we go!

Cheryl often takes Gusto to work with her at the ASPCA's new Behavioral Rehab Center in Weaverville, where he works as a "helper dog", to help some of the dogs who come through the program overcome their fear and learn how to play with a confident but gentle dog.

Gusto is the perfect name for him. He is a very enthusiastic and energetic dog. When we go for walks, we walk with Gusto! :-D

We are lucky to have found each other - he's a great dog!
