Now is your chance to give your pet the ultimate spotlight with their photo on the cover of our 2024 calendar!
Each photo entry and vote equals life-saving funds for animals in need. From tiny kittens, to senior pups, injured wildlife, pet parents in need, and everything in between, your participation supports our mission to improve the lives of pets and people in Arlington County.
Between October 2nd - October 30th, you can upload your pets' photos ($25 donation per photo entry) and ask your friends and family to cast votes ($1 per vote, 5 vote minimum) online.
So what are you waiting for? We know you have thousands of photographs of your pet. Or start snapping!

- It is $25 to enter the competition. Note that calendars are not included with entry, but are available for separate purchase.
- Entry and voting begins October 2 and ends October 30. The final calendar purchase date is also October 30, so be sure to get your order in. Calendars will be shipped directly to your home and shipping is included in the price.

Monthly Featured Winners (12)
- The next 12 pets with the highest number of votes each receive a calendar month feature. Full page, above the fold.

All Entries
- All animals will be included in photo montage, so if you enter, your pet will appear in the calendar!
Contest Entry & Voting:
- Entry registration is $25
- Calendars are available for separate purchase (*do not automatically come with registration*)
- The submission and voting period begins at 12:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Monday, October 2, 2023 and ends at 12:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Monday, October 30, 2023.
- Every $1 donation counts as one vote, (minimum of five votes per transaction).
- All vote donations are non-refundable. Entries and donations MUST be made via the online contest page.
Photo Guidelines:
- Photo submissions must be of domestic pets. Your pet does not have to be adopted from AWLA to enter.
- Photos should be in focus and of high quality, in either jpg or png format.
- Photos should have file size of 2MB or higher
- Photos must not be altered, other than minor contrast, brightness, etc.
- Photos must contain only pets – no humans.
- If you win a monthly feature, AWLA staff may reach out for alternate or additional photos to include.
Only one photo submission per entry fee is allowed.
Submission Guidelines:
- You may submit as many entries as you like, but each must be of a different pet. (*We allow photo entries of bonded pairs.*)
- Any photograph that includes content that is deemed inappropriate, obscene, etc., as determined by the staff of AWLA, will be removed from the contest and no refunds will be provided.
- Once entered, photos become the property of AWLA and may be used for future print and marketing purposes.
- Calendars are 12 month January 2024 - December 2024
- Ordered calendars will be shipped to you and shipping is included in the calendar cost!
- The last order date for calendars is October 30. There will be NO availability after this date, so get your orders in.
The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) provides animal adoption and community programs to the northern Virginia and D.C. metropolitan area, as well as animal rescue and control services within Arlington County. For almost 80 years, AWLA has remained committed to its mission to improve the lives of animals, and people, by providing resources, care, and protection.
